By Editors of Power Engineering ANDRITZ HYDRO has received an order from Eidsiva Vannkraft AS to supply electromechanical equipment for the new Nedre Otta hydropower plant in Norway and from the government utility Société Nationale d’Électricité to rehabilitate the existing Mwadingusha hydropower plant in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Nedre Otta order includes the design, manufacture and delivery of two vertical Kaplan turbines with a capacity of 86 MW, as well as generators, governors, main inlet valves, mechanical auxiliaries, installation, supervision and commissioning. Nedre Otta is being built in Oppland north of Oslo. The Mwadingusha refurbishment will involve the replacement of four turbine units, generators, governors, inlet valves, exciters, voltage regulators and draft tube stop logs.
