U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will travel to China and Japan November 14 - 19 to meet with government officials, business leaders and others to discuss the Energy Department's ongoing clean energy and scientific collaboration with both countries. 

Shanghai, China 

On Sunday, November 14, Secretary Chu will tour clean energy businesses, including Huaneng Power's carbon capture and storage project. That evening, he will participate in a Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) Steering Committee meeting with senior government officials. 

On Monday, November 15, Secretary Chu will tour Tongji University and deliver a speech to students and faculty. That afternoon, he will tour GE's China Technology Center and meet with GE scientists and researchers. 

Beijing, China 

On Tuesday, November 16, the Secretary will meet with senior Chinese government officials in Beijing. On Wednesday, November 17, he will meet with members of the U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program before departing for Tokyo. 

Tokyo, Japan 

On Thursday, November 18, Secretary Chu will meet with senior Japanese government officials and then tour the Nissan Advanced Technology Center. On Friday, November 19, the Secretary will tour the lab facilities at the University of Tokyo and give a speech to students and faculty. Following the speech, he will attend a lunch for Nobel Laureates before returning to Washington, DC.
