Transmission lines to be built for CREZ projects

Electric Transmission Texas LLC (ETT), a joint venture between units of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., executed agreements with three construction firms for transmission and infrastructure services for several Competitive Renewable Energy Zone (CREZ) projects in Texas.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas assigned the CREZ projects to ETT. The agreements with Quanta Services Inc, MYR Group Inc. and TIC Holdings Inc. give ETT the resources to build 450 miles of transmission lines and facilities in west Texas. The three firms will work under the direction of ETT and URS Corp., which will serve as overall program manager for the projects.

ETT plans to build nearly $1.4 billion in CREZ projects by 2013, the second-largest share of projects in the state.
