The Gippsland Basin Joint Venture, which includes ExxonMobil subsidiary, Esso Australia, and BHP Billiton, will invest $1.1 billion to develop more than 270 MMboe from Turrum field in the Bass Strait, offshore southeast Australia.

New compressor for Sleipner B to extend field life

This month, a compressor module weighing 1,300 metric tons (1,433 tons) will be lifted on board the Sleipner B platform using the Saipem 7000 crane vessel, according to StatoilHydro.

Shell commences GoM waterflood

The Abu Dhabi National Energy Co. PJSC wholly owned subsidiary, TAQA Bratani Ltd., Shell UK Ltd., and Esso E&P Ltd. have signed a sale and purchase agreement for the equity pertaining to operating licenses for six offshore fields and two non-operated subsea tie-backs in the northern North Sea .

Offshore spending to continue increasing

Offshore industry spending is expected to rise to $840 billion in capital expenditures and $715 billion for operations, over the five year period to 2012, compared to the $550 billion and $390 billion estimated to have been spent in the previous five years, according to the World Offshore Oil & Gas Production and Spend Forecast 2008-2012 by Douglas-Westwood and EnergyFiles.
