Statoil's earnings up

Statoil's 3Q financial statement shows continued growth. Gross income for 2006 totaled NOK30.1 billion, up from NOK23.9 billion for 3Q 2005. The NOK6.2 billion increase resulted primarily from a 13% increase in the average oil price and a 33% increase in the average price of gas. Net income, however, showed a NOK1 million loss. Earnings were offset by effects from financial items and taxes.
IHS and POSC establish standard for global unique well identifiers

IHS Inc., a provider of integrated oil and gas information and software and consulting services, and the Petrotechnical Open Standards Consortium, Inc. (POSC), a provider of information and business process standards for the upstream oil and gas industry, have signed a letter of intent to establish a service that will provide an industry standard for global unique well identifiers for all known oil and gas wells in the world.
Sondex establishes new drilling tools company

Sondex Plc, an international technology supplier to the oil and gas industry, has formed a new company, Sondex Drilling Tools Inc, to market its broad range of measurement while drilling (MWD) and logging while drilling (LWD) instruments.

Record quarter for Aker Kvaerner

Aker Kvaerner has reported what it calls "unprecedented" operating results for the 2Q 2006. Aker's revenues in the second quarter totaled NOK 14 billion, a 44% increase compared with the 2Q 2005.

Anadarko buys Kerr-McGee, Western Gas

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. announced two multibillion-dollar deals to acquire smaller producers Kerr-McGee Corp. and Western Gas Resources Inc., in a bid to boost its North American output and more than double its annual sales.

Shell Brasil awards metocean study

Shell Brasil Ltda and Shell International Exploration and Production Inc. have awarded a two-year contract to Fugro Geosolutions (Brasil) Serviços De Levantamento for the measurement, acquisition and analysis of meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) data offshore Brazil in and around proposed development areas in Blocks BC-10 and BS-4.
