BP awards Shetlands seismic project

Offshore staff

OSLO, Norway ? BP has contracted a source vessel from Wavefield Inseis for its "life of field seismic" project at Clair field west of the Shetland Islands. The project uses permanent seabed sensors buried in 2006 to acquire 4D data over the life of the field.

Data acquisition is expected to begin in July with Wavefield's M/V Malene Østervold.

"We believe strongly in this type of permanent seismic monitoring and have made substantial investments in this market," says Rick Donoghue, VP Marketing and Sales for Wavefield Inseis.
