Two Laby Compressors To Tianjin, China, For Ethylene Storage

Oil, Gas & Petrochem Equipment

Burckhardt Compression recorded an order from Weir LGE Process, Scotland, for a new ethylene storage facility at Tianjin, China. The contract comprises two labyrinth piston compressors (Laby) for the reliquefaction of ethylene. The Laby has a gastight design and is especially useful for boil-off gas applications.

Delivery of the compressors will take place in the first half of September 2004. The start-up of the plant is scheduled for the beginning of 2005.

Laby compressors are used in the chemical and petrochemical industry. Labys compress bone-dry, dirty, abrasive and other gases with no contamination and without oil, with a discharge pressure to 4,350 psi, flow to 6,500 scfm, shaft power to 2,800 hp. Laby compressors are very reliable machines. Burckhardt Compression's Laby easily manages the compression of LNG boil-off at suction temperatures to 250 degree F.
