Two Laby Compressors To Spain For LNG Project

Oil, Gas & Petrochem Equipment

Burckhardt Compression recorded an order for an LNG expansion terminal in Barcelona. The LNG import terminal will be operated by Enagas S.A., Madrid. The contract for this expansion project is Foster Wheeler Iberia S.A., Madrid. The contract comprises two labyrinth piston compressors (Laby). These compressors are designed to operate down to -160 degrees Celsius suction temperature. The discharge pressure is at 12 bar g.

The LNG import terminal is used for regasification of LNG. This plant will supply gas for general industrial consumers.

Burckhardt Compression is a leading supplier of compressors for ultra low temperature boil-off gas applications. The company offers technical solutions in the oil-free compression of cryogenic gases backed by 75 years of experience.

Laby compressors are used in the chemical and petrochemical industry. Labys compress bone-dry, dirty, abrasive and other gases with no contamination and without oil, with a discharge pressure to 4,350 psi, flow to 6,500 scfm, and shaft power to 2,800 hp. Burckhardt Compression's Laby easily manages the compression of LNG boil-off gas at suction temperatures down to -160 degrees C.
