HOUSTON, Sept. 10 -- The Cretaceous Massive reservoir in Khurbet East field on Block 26 in Syria is producing at a stabilized rate of more than 11,500 b/d of 25.7° gravity oil from three vertical wells and two horizontal wells, said Gulfsands Petroleum PLC.

Pressure monitoring is under way to guide reservoir management and future field development.

Oil production averaged 5,600 b/d during August, and cumulative production exceeds 260,000 bbl. The oil is trucked 33 km to a facility operated by Syrian Petroleum Co. and exported from the Mediterranean port of Tartous.

Gulfsands is operator with 50% working interest, and Emerald Energy PLC has the other 50%.
