SOCO farms out Congo interest

LONDON – SOCO International Plc. has agreed to farm out 8.5% of its interest in Marine XI block offshore the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) to Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corp. Ltd. The 1,400 sq km (541 sq mi) block with water depths to 110 m (361 ft) is in the Lower Congo basin.

SOCO will remain as operator, with the remainder of the interest held by Lundin Marine SARL, 18.75%; Raffia Oil SARL, 18.75%; the national Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo, 15%; and Africa Oil & Gas Corp., 10%.

The assignment of interests is subject to approval of the government of the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville).
