One Laby Compressor to China for Polypropylene Plant

Oil, Gas & Petrochem Equipment

Burckhardt Compression has recorded an order from Petrochina. Daqing Refinery and Petrochemical Company, China, is the operator of the plant which delivers 300,000 t/y of polypropylene (PP). The contract comprises one labyrinth piston compressor (Laby). The polypropylene process is a PP-Basell Spheripol process. The engineering is done by HQCEC in China.

Laby compressors are used in the chemical and petrochemical industry. Labys compress bone-dry, dirty, abrasive and other gases with no contamination and without oil, with a discharge pressure to 300 bar (4,350 psi), flow to 11,000 Nm3/h (6,500 scfm), and shaft power to 2,100 kW (2,800 hp). Laby compressors are very reliable machines and provide high performance. They easily manage the compression of LNG boil-off gas at suction temperatures down to -160 degrees C (250 F).
