Rick Wilkinson MELBOURNE, June 12 -- Hess Corp. has made a natural gas discovery with its first well drilled off Western Australia. The company reported that the Glencoe-1 wildcat, drilled in 1,121 m of water on the WA-390-P permit, has found 28 m of net gas pay. The permit is in the Carnarvon basin adjacent to the Jansz/Io discovery held by the Gorgon partners and due west of the Greater Gorgon gas fields. Hess has a 100% interest which it secured in 2007 with a 16-well drilling commitment that set new Australian work and financial obligation records. Glencoe-1 is the first of a four-well initial program to be drilled this year. Next, the Jack Bates semisubmersible drilling rig will be moved to the Briseis-1 prospect, about 14 km east of Glencoe-1. Page 1 of 1 |
