MMS updates hurricanes Gustav, Ike evacuation statistics

NEW ORLEANS -- Based on data from offshore operator reports submitted today, personnel have been evacuated 452 production platforms, equivalent to 63.0% of the 717 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Minerals Management Service (MMS).

Personnel from 81 rigs have also been evacuated; this is equivalent to 66.9% of the 121 rigs currently operating in the Gulf.

From the operators' reports, it is estimated that approximately 95.9% of the oil production in the Gulf has been shut-in. It is also estimated that approximately 73.1% of the natural gas production in the Gulf has been shut-in
