Mobil Pegasus and the world's largest biogas plant
Mobil Pegasus gas engine oils help keep the world’s largest biogas plant running smoothly, as customers testify in this video case study.
The high-performance range of lubricants plays a key role at the Klarsee BioEnergie Park in Penkun, Germany. The park is at the cutting edge of bioenergy, processing 1,000 tons of corn a day from local farms to power over 40,000 households.
ExxonMobil teamed up with engine manufacturer GE Jenbacher to ensure the plant’s forty 500kW gas engines can perform at their peak with minimum downtime. The ExxonMobil team identified specialist Mobil Pegasus lubricants to protect each component from wear and corrosion, as well as providing Signum, used oil analysis, to help the plant to improve its maintenance more efficiently by reducing unscheduled downtime.
The Mobil Pegasus line has been evolving over 40 years to optimise productivity and efficiency across a range of engine technologies including the latest stationary natural gas engines. This video case study is just one example of the range in action.

Several items have caught my eye in recent weeks that reinforce the old dictum that states are the laboratories of democracy. Under our system of government, states and individual localities may adopt different policy approaches on a host of issues. The lessons and success of those policies can offer valuable guidance to other lawmaking and regulatory authorities, including the federal government.
One way to create jobs and boost manufacturing ââ¬â and to give the overall economy a much-needed lift ââ¬â would be for the Obama administration to approve LNG export applications presently on file with the Department of Energy. Two new reports show just how powerful the economic benefits would be if the federal government endorsed the same free-trade principles with respect to energy exports that it does with virtually every other product ââ¬â from agriculture and aircraft to pharmaceuticals and vehicles.
Access to quality teachers is critical for all studentsââ¬âit was critical for me growing up in Laredo, Texas, and itââ¬â¢s central to the goals of the National Math and Science Initiative. Every day we ask so much of our teachers to ensure that all students have a chance like I did. It's been a little more than a month since the breach of the Pegasus Pipeline that spilled oil in the Mayflower community, and a lot of progress has been made. All of the freestanding oil has been recovered. We have protected nearby Lake Conway from the spill. And we are transitioning activities from emergency response and cleanup to remediation while working to get residents back into their homes.
