Energy management: Pacific Power Source, a provider of high-performance AC power sources and power conversion equipment, has announced its new PPSC Manager software that enables exceptional control of the company’s recently introduced AFX Series AC and DC capable power sources.

With this robust software suite, all AFX Series modes and capabilities are supported to allow full and easy control and measurement of these sophisticated power sources through a Windows 10 graphical interface and operation via LAN with LXI support, USB or RS-232.

PPSC Manager offers presets for 50, 60 and 400Hz for most common applications. Form (number of output phases), current and power limits, AC and DC voltage, and waveforms are all accessed from this single, easy-to-use software panel.

A waveform editor allows simulation of virtually any type of waveform with a Pacific AC power source, in either AC or AC+DC mode. Waveforms can be attached to each output sequence to improve control and ensure use of the correct waveform. In addition, a waveform import feature can be used to select oscilloscope waveforms to simulate real-world applications.

Other key features include:
• Programming to control all output settings from a single screen
• Metering to see extensive AC and DC measurements on all output phases
• Source control to configure output modes, user limits and self-calibration mode
• Interface selections to choose from a range of options like LXI (LAN), USB, serial or GPIB

Also available is a PPSC Test Manager option for developing elaborate AC or DC test sequences or selecting from an extensive library of compliance test sequences for avionics, military or commercial products. Test sequence steps provide detailed amplitude and timing control over all outputs in single, split or three-phase mode of operation. And a graphical transient preview mode allows detailed checking of transient timing before execution.

The AFX Series is a family of high-power, single, split and three-phase power sources that are AC, DC and AC+DC output capable. Models range from 9 kVA to 60 kVA in a state-of-the-art design using the latest digital power conversion technologies to achieve energy efficiency, ease of use and maximum power per cubic inch of rack space. Using a modern user interface, the AFX Series is cost effective and fully programmable for both basic frequency conversion and advanced AC power line or DC power disturbance test applications.
