Utility tools: TMW Systems has introduced a universal, cloud-based solution that enables fleets to integrate their mobile communication platforms into TMWSuite® software without the need for costly on-premise servers and other resources. The new solution, TMW FleetConneX™, also helps improve communication with drivers by reducing data latency issues associated with many conventional integration platforms. FleetConneX is now available for fleets using TMWSuite software in conjunction with PeopleNet® and Omnitracs® mobile communication solutions.

Unlike premise-based integration platforms, the FleetConneX solution is a universal tool that eliminates the need for custom integrations and coding and requires no additional on-premise hardware. The solution’s architecture supports more than 90 data fields covering virtually every aspect of an order and permits fleets to easily add or subtract fields from their approved forms without custom coding.

TMW FleetConneX also facilitates faster, more reliable transfer of information via RESTful (representational state transfer) web services, which use HTTP protocol for communication between client and server. In contrast, many legacy integration platform tools, including TMW TotalMail®, run a queue of messages through pollers at time-defined intervals, extending delivery and response cycles to several minutes in some situations.

“Near real-time communication between fleet operations and drivers is absolutely vital in today’s transportation environment, yet systems complexity and other issues continue to challenge the industry,” said David Wangler, president of TMW Systems. “FleetConneX opens the door to significantly easier, more robust and less expensive integration for TMWSuite users who rely on two of the industry’s leading mobile communication providers.”
