Over the years, thermal imaging has become smarter and more accessible than ever before. With improved accuracy, ease of use and portability, thermal imaging products have become a staple in the utility industry. Electricians, plant managers, building inspectors and technicians are just a few of the many professionals impacted by this technology. FLIR Systems Inc. is largely attributed for this progress. As the world leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of thermal imaging, FLIR has earned a reputation as ‘The World’s Sixth Sense.’ With 30,000 infrared cameras currently in use, FLIR is the largest producer of thermal cameras in the world—and they don’t plan on stopping there.

In Gary Orlove’s article, “How Smart Infrared Cameras Empower,” he states: “As business cycles quicken, it’s getting more important for power companies and service providers to see catastrophic events in the making, and to take appropriate remedial action. Unfortunately, many problems can’t be diagnosed by sight alone. They require a combination of insight and the right tools to make up for the blindness lurking beyond our sense.”

As the several benefits of thermal imaging become increasingly apparent, many utility professionals want to know how this technology could increase their own safety and productivity in the workplace. But with such vast capabilities, most information about thermal imaging can only scratch the surface, which is why you won’t want to miss out on this year’s InfraMation Conference.

InfraMation, co-sponsored by FLIR, is the world’s largest thermal imaging training experience. From September 27-29, industry professionals will gather in Las Vegas to expand their understanding and proficiency in thermal imaging applications and techniques. The conference offers detailed information about how thermal imaging helps troubleshoot and solve problems that could result in costly shutdowns, outages or equipment losses. With a large variety of expert-led presentations and workshops, participants will learn how to communicate findings with customers, increase inspection accuracy, detect hazards and more. As FLIR revamps their products to meet the needs of utility professionals, it’s crucial that industry leaders fully understand how they can benefit from the technology. For instance, FLIR’s new powerful T1K is built for experts who require the absolute highest quality for their critical eye. The T1K includes top-notch features such as OSX precision, an HDIR optical system, HD detector and programmable buttons. With so much to keep up with in this evolving industry, it’s crucial to be constantly learning about thermal imaging and staying up to date with its advancements.

A previous InfraMation attendee shares that there was, “Very good access to instructors and workshops of your choice and that there was never a dull moment.” Conference topics include automation, building, condition monitoring, research/science, optical gas imaging, life, general, UAV and more! InfraMation’s agenda is conveniently organized by presentation topic and skill level, so that beginners, experts and everyone in between get the most out of their sessions.

In addition to the scheduled programs, InfraMation also presents attendees with the unique opportunity to network amongst their peers. One conference attendee shares, “If you want to learn about a new technology, meet other people who use it.” FLIR is proud to co-sponsor such a collaborative and diverse environment where professionals are eager to share their experiences with others. Another InfraMation guest explains that the conference is “a good cross section of people, a lot of good conversation, and everyone knows that the best information comes in the meeting AFTER the meeting.”

With InfraMation under their belt, professionals can easily stay ahead of the curve. As one appreciative attendee expresses: “There aren’t very many chances you get to have all the industry leaders come together with experts in thermography. With a wide range of people, there are many lessons you can learn about thermography and applications to apply to your situation.”

To learn more about InfraMation or to register for the event, visit http://www.inframation.org. You can also find the complete agenda, an introduction of the keynote speakers, and further logistics on the website. You won’t want to miss this one of a kind opportunity to get ahead. You can also follow #inframation16 on social to see what FLIR and others are saying about the event.

In the meantime, follow the thermal energy industry leader on social media (@FLIR) and get immersed in a community that loves sharing its newest discoveries and successes, and feel free to share your own story. The FLIR team is always happy to see how their innovations help people live out their daily missions. Learn More
