Energy management: History Channel sets summer premiere for “Power & Ice”

Construction projects: U.S. net History is bracing for a chilly August with the premiere of its Alaskan power grid series Power & Ice. The Tricon Films & Television-produced program chronicles the day-to-day lives of three competitive utility companies – Alaska Line Builders, Electric Power Constructors and City Electric – as they compete in sub-zero temperatures for the risky jobs that provide the state of Alaska with a continuous flow of electricity.

Andrea Gorfolova, Jameel Bharmal, Jeffery Hevert, Jason Cavanagh, Chase Peel and Myles Reiff are to serve as executive producers for Tricon Films & Television, while Zachary Behr will exec produce for History. Marc Whitehead is the executive in charge of production for Tricon.

In other news, the ninth season of Ice Road Truckers (pictured) - which also returns to the U.S. network in August – sees the truck drivers attempting to topple Polar Industries from its post after two consecutive seasons of domination. Produced by Original Productions in collaboration with Prospero Media, the series documents the expeditions of truck drivers facing perilous weather conditions in remote Alaskan and Canadian territories.

Executive producers for Original Productions include Thom Beers, Philip David Segal and Jeff Conroy, with Sarah Whalen and Dave Freed listed as co-executive producers. Prospero Media has enlisted Martin Katz and Karen Wookey as executive producers, while Steven Ascher will exec produce for History.

Ice Road Truckers will return to History on August 2 at 9 p.m. EST/PST, while Power & Ice is to debut on August 27 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.
