Portland, OR – Utility safety: Graphic Products, a provider of workplace labeling and signage, has created a colorful, two-page Wire Marking Guide to aid electrical contractors, telecommunications professionals, and utility industry workers who deal with wires every day. The guide demonstrates how to label wires and cables using both self-laminating wire wraps or shrink tubing, and includes an easy to follow cable gauge chart for nine sizes of wire (cable shrink tube size chart). Graphic Products has introduced a number of mobile labeling systems to put the power of labeling into the hands of workers in the field, with a full line of wire marking supplies.

Electrical workers, according to the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), must possess a strong understanding of commercial and residential wiring. They’re expected to know how to deal with electrical outages, read blue prints, wire a variety of different devices, run conduit, perform quality control testing and troubleshoot problems including safety issues. Master electricians are also responsible for ensuring assignments are in compliance with specific standards and industry codes.

“When we develop our guides and charts, we think about what complicated tasks our customers might face, and try to provide reference to make them easier,” said Steve Stephenson, Graphic Products. “When your responsibilities include everything from maintaining mechanical equipment to installing electrical components, it’s nice to have a handy reference guide to assist with wire sizing, wire wraps and shrink tubes.”

Printed wire markers are an excellent solution when non-standard wire colors are used. Each can be printed with a custom number and additional wire identification information and display standardized colors. With information on each wire, workers never have to guess a wire’s true function. Printed markers can also be placed around closed or open terminal ends for lasting identification in harsh industrial environments.

Other electrical safety guides include:

• Encyclopedia of Labeling
• Fault Current Labeling
• 5S System
• Conveyor Safety
• Arc Flash
• Lockout/Tagout Safety

With more than 50 unique labeling supplies, Graphic Products, Inc. is equipped to solve problems in the industrial safety arena -- providing the right label material for nearly every type of application including arc flash, pipe marking, facility safety, mining, food processing and construction.
