Smart meters clevest mobile platform

Smart meter exchange and appointment booking: Clevest Solutions Inc., a provider of mobile workforce automation software including smart grid operations exclusively for the utility industry, announced that deployment vendor Contract Callers Inc. (CCI) has successfully used the company's mobile solution for appointment booking and smart meter exchange to streamline the installation of new smart meters for a Connecticut water company as part of the first phase of the utility's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) initiative.

"Deployment vendors like CCI handle an enormous volume of work in the course of an AMI program and our solutions give them much improved control over the meter exchange process," explained Robert Dreskai, Market Manager, Cooperative and Municipal Utilities, Clevest. "Appointment booking and smart meter exchange are also field-tested, proven systems, which is an important consideration as deployment vendors and utilities alike seek out best practices in the deployment of smart grid technologies," Dreskai added.
Michael Maguire, Vice President, Contract Callers indicated, "Successful AMI deployments require strong coordination between the field, the call center, and the customers. Tools like Clevest's help us to simplify significant process complexities and better manage governance issues. The Clevest solutions have helped us ensure a smooth transfer from deployment to business operations for the water company."

By automatically generating appointments with customers, Contract Callers dramatically decreased the time spent manually compiling paper-based schedules to upgrade the utility's customers to new smart meters. The capability also allowed Contract Callers to optimize the productivity of technicians in the field, enhance customer satisfaction, reduce expensive overtime and non-productive idle times, and improve responsiveness to changing conditions by efficiently rescheduling and rebalancing work.

Once appointments were booked, Contract Callers used the mobile Smart Meter Exchange solution to document and manage mass meter deployment activities in real-time. By incorporating intuitive workflow templates, the system streamlines the deployment process, improves data accuracy and reduces the risk of touching the meter by automating the receipt, assignment, processing and completion of meter exchange orders. The Smart Meter Exchange solution can be used by utilities or by the deployment vendors they engage.
Clevest Smart Meter Exchange is built on industry best practices gained from over 50 AMI projects representing millions of meters across North America.
