Electricity generating windows

In an interview with the CEO John A. Conklin he says, “SolarWindow™ Technologies, Inc. is a clean energy company that uses a SolarWindow™ coating on windows to produce solar energy from direct sunlight, low and defused light, and artificial light.”  The SolarWindow™ coating uses an organic liquid composition or mostly carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen that are arranged in 5 layers that creates a see-through organic photovoltaic (OPV) solar array.  Mr. Conklin says, “the process has been seamlessly integrated into the glass making process to meet the standards of glass manufacturing.”  The SolarWindow™ coating can be applied to windows of any size and added to any commercial building or residential home.

SolarWindow™ coating can generate up to 50 times more energy than rooftop solar panels.  Solar panels are limited to the surface area of a roof whereas the SolarWindow™ coating can be applied to all sides of a building increasing the surface area to produce solar energy and it produces energy from low light, and defused light.  The SolarWindow™ coating can be developed into different colors to match window tinting or change the color of the windows altogether.  Also, the darker the color the more energy generation the SolarWindow™ coating can provide for the building.

SolarWindow™ coatings can be applied in many ways.  The technology is currently being developed for use in commercial glass for new construction and replacement windows in commercial towers. Window glass for residential in new construction and replacement windows.  The solar coating can also be applied to structural glass and architectural glass that is textured and decorative for interior glass surfaces. 

SolarWindow™ Technologies, Inc. is changing the landscape of solar energy by integrating an active solar cell into the window making at transition from horizontal solar arrays to vertical solar arrays.  The transition to vertical solar arrays allows for the use of existing infrastructures and does not sacrifice horizontal acreage.  SolarWindow™ Technologies, Inc. is on the leading edge of solar technology with the addition of SolarWindow™ coatings.
