Commission preparing disposal well case against Sandridge

Commission spokesman Matt Skinner said that Sandridge Energy is not complying with a directive from the commission's Oil and Gas Division to reduce wastewater volume as part of a plan to reduce earthquake activity in northern Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma Corporation Commission spokesman says the commission is preparing to take action to force Oklahoma City-based Sandridge Energy, Inc. to reduce the amount of wastewater it's injecting into dozens of disposal wells in an area rocked by earthquakes.

Commission spokesman Matt Skinner said Monday that Sandridge is not complying with a directive from the commission's Oil and GasDivision to reduce wastewater volume as part of a plan to reduce earthquake activity in northern Oklahoma.

As a result, Skinner said the Oil and Gas Division is seeking to change the permits for the wells in question to allow for a reduced amount of wastewater.

Sandridge spokesman David Kimmel says the company is prepared to work through the commission's established rules to "ensure decisions are based on scientific analysis."
