Mike Loggie, chief executive of Saltire Energy has been named Entrepreneurial Scotland Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 at an awards ceremony held at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow on Nov. 25.
The annual awards ceremony recognise individuals who have led their business to strong growth in revenue and profits through innovation, teamwork and leadership skills. The awards also highlight the vital role entrepreneurs play, whether leading new or well-established businesses.
This win comes after Loggie was awarded one of the top accolades of the EY UK Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2015 in October, where he was commended for his hands-on approach and robust business strategy.
Loggie established Saltire Energy, a leading supplier of drilling tools to the offshore oil and gas industry, in 1986. He has since grown the company into a group of three highly successful subsidiaries and grown its presence in Australia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East as a result of client demand. Over the past three years, the company’s turnover figures have increased by 68%.
Loggie, said, “It is an honour to have been recognised in front of so many successful entrepreneurs across Scotland at these prestigious awards. Saltire Energy’s recent international growth is testament to the hard work and dedication of my team, who continually deliver first-class service to our valued client base across the globe.
“The downturn in the oil and gas sector has presented the industry with a number of challenges, but we have remained resilient and adapted to the changing market, allowing us to continue expanding during these times.”
Loggie has been acknowledged for his philanthropic contributions to local community initiatives and charitable causes in the past. In 2014, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Aberdeen in recognition of his on-going support of the university and was made a Burgess of Guild for Aberdeen in the same year, as a result of his contribution to the community.
Earlier this year, Saltire Energy was named one of the 1,000 most inspiring companies in the UK by the London Stock Exchange, which followed its listings on The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Ones to Watch and The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 league tables in 2014.
