RSCC cable provides enhanced downhole cable solutions

RSCC Wire & Cable, Downhole Metal Clad business segment, is introducing its new Safety-TEC ™ cables at ADIPEC 2015. Safety-TEC ensures safe stripping of tube encapsulated (TEC) cable jackets when installing permanent downhole cable (PDC) in oil and gas drilling applications.

Drilling equipment engineers who are installing cables in the field are able to use a ripcord that allows the safe removal of the jacket without the use of a knife and without compromising the integrity of the materials specified for the encapsulating jacket. Cable jacketing materials are available for 150°C and 200°C versions, depending on operating temperature requirements.

The Safety-TEC™ cable stripping design can be integrated into any of RSCC’s PermaTEC® product offerings, including StandardTEC®, PressureTEC®, and DigiTEC®. These TEC cables are manufactured with materials that can meet a wide range of performance specifications, including copper or plated conductors (tin and nickel); low- or high-temperature insulations (polypropylene or fluoropolymer); stainless or nickel alloy armor; and a full range of low- or high-performance encapsulations (polypropylene, fluoropolymers, or high-performance elastomers).

Also at ADIPEC 2015, RSCC will showcase its PermaFlow ® control line products for moving hydraulic or other fluids in smart well, permanent downhole cable (PDC) applications. PermaFlow technology incorporates robust welded metal tubes, is available in Alloy 316L or Alloy 825 stainless steel, and can also be encapsulated with high-performance thermoplastic or elastomer materials functional in either 150°C or 200°C operating temperature environments. PermaFlow® control line products complement RSCC Wire & Cable’s PermaTEC® family of tube encapsulated cable product offerings, which are made using the same high-performance materials to transmit power and signals to well completion equipment and systems.

“Our Kerite and RSCC brands have always been known for high-quality cable solutions, with a constant drive toward innovation to address emerging applications and markets,” says Greg Smith, President of Marmon Utility Group. “We’re excited to be in Abu Dhabi again this year to explore new opportunities, to promote our premium cable offerings, and to seek new customer partnership engagements.”
