Burns & McDonnell is teaming with ARB, Inc., in a joint venture to design and construct a cogeneration facility that will serve a large oil refinery in southern California. Burns & McDonnell and ARB will provide comprehensive engineering design for the duration of the project as well as procurement and construction management services. ARB is a division of Primoris Services Corporation (NASDAQ: PRIM)
Engineering design of the cogeneration plant is now underway and construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2016. The plant is expected to be in commercial operation by the third quarter of 2017. The natural gas-fired cogeneration facility will provide up to 33 megawatts of primary power supply as well as process steam to augment the existing steam supply for refinery process units. Power technology incorporated in the cogeneration plant, including a GE LM2500 turbine engine, will be state-of-the-art for efficiency and low emissions.
