Total’s managing director to retire after 36 years

Oil and gas giant announces that its managing director of Total E&P UK, Philippe Guys, will be retiring on November 9, after 36 years of working for Total.

In his 36 years working for Total, Guys has held a number of senior positions in the company across the world.

Guys began his career as a drilling engineer, and his professional background saw him develop into one of Total’s foremost specialists in new oil and gas technologies and drilling techniques.  Later in his career Guys was managing director of Total’s affiliates in Venezuela, Qatar and finally, the UK.

Guys plans to spend his retirement inspiring the next generation by mentoring students and young professionals for Total. He will also spend his time cultivating his vineyard in Brittany, where he currently lives.

Total E&P UK plans to announce its new managing director soon, details forthcoming.
