National solar power company Sunrun brings solar leasing to South Carolina

Sunrun (RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar company in the U.S., today announced it is the first company to offer solar leasing to homeowners in South Carolina. With a Sunrun BrightSave solar lease, homeowners now have the choice to go solar and begin saving immediately on their electric bills with little or no money down. Sunrun owns, installs and maintains the system so the homeowner pays only for the electricity it generates – not the panels.

As the company that pioneered the solar lease, Sunrun is the expert in helping homeowners make the transition to solar. With online tools and technology like Sunrun BrightPath™, the industry's first end-to-end automated software platform for managing home solar projects, Sunrun ensures that all its customers receive a customized solar package that meets their electricity needs and savings goals.

Sunrun began offering home solar in South Carolina in June, giving homeowners the option to purchase their system with BrightBuy or finance it with BrightAdvantage, a simple loan arranged by Sunrun. Now, with the addition of the BrightSave lease, homeowners in South Carolina have even more choice when it comes to powering their homes.

“After only a couple months in South Carolina, we have already seen a real interest from local residents in going solar,” said Tyson Grinstead, senior manager of public policy at Sunrun. “With the addition of our BrightSave solar lease, which removes the upfront cost of going solar, we hope to make solar even more accessible and affordable for homeowners.”

South Carolina’s growing solar adoption was made possible through the leadership demonstrated by the South Carolina Office of the Regulatory Staff (ORS).

As the first company to introduce solar as a service to American homeowners, Sunrun has reinvented the way people buy electricity. Sunrun gives homeowners access to the smartest energy source – sunlight – and takes care of everything so families can focus on more important things, like putting savings back in their pockets each month.
