Handled by the Survivex service line Rigex, the package included the creation and delivery of a bespoke LOLER Responsible Person training course and the production of safety media for issue to personnel as reference materials.
The course was developed specifically for those required to authorize lifting plans and focussed on active learning with plenty of hands-on exercises.
Survivex Technical Manager Neil McKinnon explains, “The production of safety media sits very well beside our existing service lines and is particularly useful when utilized in conjunction with our training courses. Through this service we have developed some generic handbooks which will be of relevance to any organization, but we can also work with clients to produce customized material covering company specific processes and procedures.”
Survivex has seen increasing demand in recent months for this service. A handbook focussing on Rigging & Lifting Operations is being translated into South American Portuguese and Arabic following interest from clients in these areas. The team at Survivex anticipate similar translations for another book focused on Land Rig Moves.
Further publications are in the production stage, including a Crane Operations handbook and an illustrative Safe Lifting book which features seven different languages.
The books are available for distribution through Survivex itself, but orders have also been received from Blackwell’s Bookshop in Aberdeen which provides focused publications to clients across the oil and gas industry.
Mr McKinnon continues, “At Survivex we have a wealth of technical experience which we can utilize to produce professional and informative media and we’re delighted that Nexen has recognised the value in the service that we offer. We look forward to developing this area of the business and producing further client specific materials as well as generic publications for all to enjoy.”
