ELK RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — A brewery that's based in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula is getting a boost from the federal government to help it install solar panels.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the solar power project is planned at the Short's Brewery production facility in Elk Rapids.

An event is Friday to present the more than $35,000 grant. USDA Rural Development provided the funds through the Rural Energy for America Program.

Short's Brewery has a pub in Bellaire.
