Alstom signs agreements to service Kaeng Khoi II power plant

Alstom has been awarded a new Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) as well as an extension of a Long Term Parts Agreement (LTPA) by Gulf Power Generation Company Limited (Gulf Power) for its Kaeng Khoi II power plant in Thailand. With a combined value of over €160 million, the new extension agreements will see Alstom providing technical expertise to oversee the service and maintenance of the Kaeng Khoi II power plant. Under the scope of these two agreements, Alstom will also provide new parts, reconditioning services and field service for planned outages for the plant’s existing gas turbines, steam turbines and generators until 2033.

“We are delighted to be given this opportunity to support Thailand achieve its energy goals,” said Michael Rechsteiner, Senior Vice President Thermal Services at Alstom. “Not only are the agreements a reflection of Gulf Power’s confidence in Alstom’s products and services, it is also a tribute to Alstom’s cutting-edge technologies. We will do our best to ensure the optimal performance of the plant and look forward to benefiting Thailand and its people in the future,” he added.

Contributing around 1,500 MW of power to Thailand’s energy mix, the Kaeng Khoi II combined-cycle natural gas plant, located in Saraburi Province at the north of Bangkok, was built by Alstom and was fully operational in 2008. The original LTPA undertaken then only covered the gas turbines. The new LTSA and LTPA extension increases Alstom’s scope to cover the Steam Turbine and Generators as well, demonstrating Gulf Power’s confidence in Alstom’s ability to keep their power plant running in the most reliable and profitable conditions.

Gulf Power Generation Company Limited is a subsidiary of Gulf Group, one of the leading providers of electricity in Thailand, serving both public and private customers in main industrial zones of the country. Alstom has been present in Thailand for over 40 years and has supplied over 7 GW of installed capacity in the country.
