Electrical solutions provider Gexpro announced it will provide a new battery energy storage system, according to a company release. The firm said it will release the Gexpro Power IQ after partnering with Geli, Ideal Power and LG Chem. The Battery Energy Storage Solution will be sold to commercial and industrial customers in 30 kilowatt-hour or 45 kWh complete turnkey models. The company estimates customers can install between one and eight 30KW Battery Energy Storage Solutions in a commercial building to handle high peak loads.
The solution is a culmination of several companies working together to offer the Geli Energy Operating System, Demand Charge Management Energy App, and Internet of Energy Platform.
Ryan Wartena, CEO and co-founder of Geli, said in a statement, that the system, app and platform bring together world-class parts to make up a new model. Wartena said the energy storage system allows for easy implementation for solar and energy developers.
A subsidiary of Rexel, Gexpro noted demand charges in several states may account for up to 50 percent of a commercial customer's energy bill. However, a Battery Energy Storage Solution could result in both power generation and energy reduction for commercial customers.
Gexpro is also working with Ideal Power, which Gexpro announced as a provider for battery storage technologies earlier in May, and LG Chem.
"By combining our advanced battery technology, which has enabled LG Chem to establish leading positions in the global hybrid and all-electric vehicle market and the stationary energy storage market, with our partners' power electronics, system integration and product distribution capabilities, we're enabling competitive energy storage systems that will exhibit the highest levels of performance, flexibility and reliability," Sunghoon Jang, LG Chem senior vice president, said in a statement.
