MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's state-owned oil company says firefighting boats are battling a blaze on an oil platform off the coast.

According to Pemex's official Twitter account, the platform, called Abkatun Permanente, caught fire early Wednesday in Campeche Sound in the Gulf of Mexico.

Eight firefighting boats are engaged in trying to extinguish the flames and 300 workers have been evacuated.
