Landis+Gyr, the global leader in energy management solutions, and DONG Energy, one of the leading energy groups in Northern Europe, have signed an agreement for a Meter Data Management System which will be integrated into the utility's existing IT architecture. The move comes as Dong Energy prepares to start the replacement of its entire metering infrastructure in the residential sector.
Over the next four years, Landis+Gyr will deliver its Gridstream™ meter data management system (MDMS) to DONG Energy. Between 2017 and 2020, DONG Energy will replace its entire residential meter base with smart meters, totaling one million metering end-points. The Landis+Gyr solution will enable the utility to efficiently process and validate hourly energy data collected from the smart meters.
The Gridstream™ MDMS brings many benefits to Dong Energy. The system provides automatic consumption, trending, and validation of revenue-based meter readings and of power quality data, which means that potential issues such as poor voltage quality in the network can be identified – and remedied – quickly. Further benefits include the automation of business processes.

Meter Data Management systems process the vast quantities of data that are collected in the head-end system from individual meters. An MDMS will typically import the data, then validate, cleanse and process it before making it available for billing and analysis.
