AREVA wins major used nuclear fuel storage solutions contracts

AREVA has been awarded two major contracts with a combined value of more than $70 million for the supply of used nuclear fuel storage solutions

AREVA TN, a division of AREVA, has recently been awarded two major contracts with a combined value of more than $70 million for the supply of used nuclear fuel storage solutions. These contracts confirm the company’s leading position in the U.S. market.

As part of a long-term contract with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), AREVA TN will provide dry used fuel storage equipment and related services to the Davis Besse and Beaver Valley nuclear power plants, located in Ohio and Pennsylvania, respectively. This contract also marks the first order for AREVA’s next-generation NUHOMS® system which offers a higher capacity and enhanced performance. AREVA TN will manage the loading campaigns. AREVA TN also has been awarded a contract by Exelon for the supply of NUHOMS® dry shielded canisters and horizontal storage modules to the Limerick Generating Station in Pennsylvania.

“These two contracts demonstrate the success of AREVA’s continued efforts to provide the nuclear industry with safest and highest quality solutions for used fuel storage,” said Dominique Mockly, senior executive vice president of AREVA’s Back End Business Group.
