Alstom announced it has contracted with PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A. to supply the Polish company with 30 ECO110 model wind turbines, according to an official company statement. The turbines are for the 90 megawatt Litnisko wind farm located in Kopaniewo, Poland, and is valued at approximately €80 million.
The Litnisko farm is one of the largest projects in the Polish wind-generated energy industry, and is also the first wind project for Alstom in the country. Alstom operates wind farms around the world and has installed more than 2,600 turbines at more than 200 sites.
Not only will Alstom supply the wind turbines, the company will also manage the project, as well as the building and commissioning of the turbines. The turbines have 110 meter diameter rotors, 90 meter high steel towers and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) remote control systems. More than 130 turbines of this model have been built throughout Europe.
"Alstom is proud to contribute to the project, thus confirming our involvement in the development of the wind power sector and the effort to build a sustainable energy mix in Poland," Alstom Wind business Senior Vice President Yves Rannou said.
