"We are pleased to add this project to our portfolio," said James Spencer, president and chief executive officer of EverPower.
Suzlon Group had previously bought the Big Sky Wind Farm, located in Bureau and Lee counties, from Edison Mission Energy through its subsidiary based in the U.S., Suzlon Wind Energy Corp (SWECO), according to Business Standard. The wind farm was completed in 2011 and is equipped with 114 turbines that were made by Suzlon and generate 2.1 MW each. With the power generation capacity of 240 MW, the wind farm could produce enough electricity to power 50,000 homes each year.
"This sale of Big Sky Wind Farm to a sound long term investor like EverPower is an important part of our disinvestment strategy to hive off non-core assets, and the net proceeds of the sale will be used to fuel our business growth," said Kirti Vagadia, group head of finance at Suzlon.
