Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has acquired a petroleum testing laboratory in El Salvador (Central America). The lab acquisition provides a testing solution to local and regional businesses in and around El Salvador. Intertek has purchased the laboratory, which is strategically located inside the Acajutla RASA terminal. Highly qualified laboratory employees, with over fifteen years of scientific and industry experience, have joined Intertek and will continue to support clients in the region.
The laboratory is located in the Acajutla port region in Sonsonate, El Salvador which was formerly operated by the Acajutla Refinery (RASA). Intertek negotiated an agreement to purchase the laboratory and continue operations in December, 2013.
With Intertek’s expansion in El Salvador, local clients benefit from independent, impartial, and rapid hydrocarbons testing, helping companies become more efficient and competitive in order to meet global market demands.
The laboratory is 380 square meters in size, and provides quality testing for liquid petroleum gases (LPG), crude oil, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, and asphalt products.

Intertek operations at the laboratory began in February 2014, and provide testing services to the petroleum industry clients with operations in El Salvador.
