Chinese solar cell manufacturer JA Solar said it will provide 7.8 megawatts of modules to renewable energy developer British Solar Renewables for the UK-based firm's solar farm. JA Solar agreed to supply the solar farm in the southwestern UK with full square mono solar modules in a 60-cell format. The company said shipments will be finished by the first quarter of 2014.
"JA Solar's ability to deliver high-efficiency solar products against tight deadlines was a key factor in us winning this project," Baofang Jin, executive chairman and chief executive officer of JA Solar, said in a statement. "We have built a strong partner base in the UK, both in the residential and utility scale segments, and have seen growing demand for our high-efficiency products."
Jin said the company expects it will have a strong performance in the UK market in 2014.
"British Solar Renewables strives to be best in class in our PV build process and so demands premium products from the most reliable suppliers," Angus MacDonald, chief executive officer of British Solar Renewables, said in a statement. "We are delighted to once again be cooperating with JA Solar, who have consistently demonstrated their technology and product-quality leadership."
