New licenses in the Barents Sea and the North Sea contribute to the growth in DONG Energy.
The Norwegian oil and energy department yesterday awarded exploration licenses to 48 oil companies in the yearly license round, APA. DONG Energy's Norwegian oil and gas business concluded a successful application process, ending up with two new licenses, both as operator.
"We are very excited about the two licenses that we have been awarded. The licenses are situated in areas in which we are already active – in the North Sea as a significant producing oil company and in the Barents Sea, where we explore and which I see as a natural addition to our producing family in the future," says Philip Johannes Lafeber, Managing Director for DONG Energy in Norway, DONG E&P Norge.
On the upcoming work programme Philip Johannes Lafeber says:
"We have prepared acquisition plans for new 3D seismic for the North Sea licence to get more information on the sub-structure and improve understanding of the license. We hope to collect the seismic data this summer. Subsequently, the data will be analysed to give us more information about the area. If the area still looks promising, we look forward to be drilling exploration wells in a few years' time."
