Canadian Solar Solutions, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ), will provide 10 megawatts of modules for Silvercreek Solar Park's Ontario plant, Bloomberg reported. Canadian Solar, the largest solar manufacturer in Canada, will supply 48,384 CS6X modules for the solar farm. The project, located in Elgin County, Ontario, will be the first solar power farm for the county and is expected to span over 88 acres. Once completed, the project is expected to produce more than 17 million kilowatt-hours per year.
"Both companies share in our commitment to the Ontario solar industry and are pleased to bring this showcase project online," said Dave Moerman, president of Silvercreek Solar Park.
The solar plant, which is scheduled to be finished in July 2014, will power almost 1,700 houses each year.
"We are excited to be working with Silvercreek Solar Park on its first solar project in Canada and look forward to further expanding our relationship in the future as opportunities become available," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Solar Shawn Qu.
