Fourth Statoil employee now confirmed dead

Statoil received the sad news that one more of our dear and highly valued colleagues who has been missing since the terrorist attack at In Amenas in Algeria is now confirmed dead.

The deceased is Alf Vik. He was 43 years old and resided in Grimstad, Norway.

On Friday, Statoil received confirmation that Hans M. Bjone (55 years old from Brandbu, Norway), Tore Bech (58 years old from Bergen, Norway) and Thomas Snekkevik (35 years old from Austrheim/Bergen, Norway) were dead. One Statoil employee is still missing after the terror attack which began on January 16.

“It is with deep sorrow that we have received the news that Alf Vik is confirmed dead. We are going through very difficult times in Statoil. Four of our respected and dear colleagues are no longer with us. As a company in mourning, our thoughts go to the families who have lost their loved ones, and to their friends and colleagues. At the same time we share the anguish and uncertainty of the family that is still awaiting final news,” says CEO Helge Lund.
