RDS, the rig design engineering specialist division of KCA Deutag, announced the award of two significant offshore contracts valued at $42 million for engineering and design services in the North Sea and a global Master Services Agreement (MSA).
The first contract is for detail design and follow-on engineering for Statoil’s Mariner platform drilling facilities. This contract is with a new client, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd, who is providing EPC services to Statoil. This significant award further demonstrates RDS’s commitment to the North Sea.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd has also signed an agreement with RDS for Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of the Bressay platform which will build on the relationship between the two companies. The contracts have a commitment period of 29 months and 9 months respectively and will increase RDS’s rapidly expanding headcount to over 810 personnel.
The MSA was awarded by ENSCO Services Limited, giving RDS the opportunity to forge a strong relationship with ENSCO to provide engineering support going forward. The first scope of work has already been called off from this MSA.
Simon Drew, Senior Vice President at RDS, said: “These new awards provide a great example of the on-going investment in the UK Continental Shelf. We have a very strong presence in the North Sea and these agreements further demonstrate that RDS is the flagship rig design engineering specialist in the region.
“We are pleased to be working with both new clients and look forward to developing and strengthening these relationships as we continue to grow our UK and Global business.”
