The outage caused the company to lose a significant amount of gas. The company said the loss was equivalent to 177 million cubic feet of gas per day. According to the report, the St. Fergus terminal is one of four gas plants that process natural gas from more than 20 North Sea fields. The plants provide about 20 percent of the United Kingdom's daily gas requirements.
The announcement was made two weeks after the company restarted production at its Elgin/Franklin platform in the North Sea. The Elgin/Franklin was out for almost a year in March 2012. The cause for the production stoppage at the Elgin/Franklin platform resulted after the discovery of a gas leak.
Dow Jones Newswires reported the length of the outage at the plant is unknown.
