Exploratory well Vanaduru South 1 is located in West Godaavri PML block of KG onland Basin Krishna Godavari. The company said it drilled to a depth of more than 12,000 feet and the well produced 181 barrels of oil per day and gas at more than 51,700 cubic meters per day (m3/day).
The second well, Saveri 1 is in NELP block of KG shallow offshore Basin. Drilling traveled to a depth of more than 8,700 feet and ONGC discovered gas flows at several intervals.
AD 37 is the third exploratory well and is in Agartala Dome Extension in Tripura. It was drilled to a dept of 11,483 feet. An interval depth of 9,260 feet produced gas at more than 1 million m3/day. The company said the discovery opens the western flank of Agartala Dome up to Konoban for further oil and gas exploration.
According to the Wall Street Journal, ONGC plans to spend more than $746 billion by 2016 to renovate the infrastructure of production facilities in these fields around India.
ONGC, which contributes just under two-thirds of local crude output in India and has set an ambitious target of doubling production and trebling revenue by 2030, the article stated.
