Oil and gas discovery in the North Sea

DONG, operator of production licence 147, is about to complete drilling of wildcat well 3/7-8 S. The well proved oil and gas.

The drilling took place two kilometres south of the Trym field in the southern part of the North Sea.

Oil and gas were proven in a gross column of 159 metres in the Sandnes and Bryne formations with reservoir rocks and reservoir quality as expected.

The preliminary estimation of the size of the discovery is between one and two million Sm3 of recoverable oil equivalents. The licensees will assess whether the discovery, which is part of the same licence as the Trym field, is commercial.
