KBC Advanced Technologies plc (“KBC”) and MSE (Consultants) Limited (“MSE”) are pleased to announce that they have signed a memorandum of understanding for KBC to promote and distribute MSE’s compressor design software, PRO-M, as part of KBC’s Petro-SIMTM process simulator. This will make available to the oil & gas industry a specialised turbomachinery add-in to KBC’s full facility simulator.

PRO-M technology has been successfully used by MSE in advanced compressor design and optimisation projects for blue-chip oil and gas companies over the last 20+ years and represents state of the art compressor and turbomachinery design. Petro-SIM contains full gas turbine simulation as part of the process model and includes KBC’s recently acquired Multiflash PVT software. The combination of the technologies of MSE and KBC delivers the most advanced topsides and processing full facility simulation in the world.

Dr Sib Akhtar, Chairman and Technical Director at MSE, commented: “This partnership represents a significant opportunity for MSE to expand our technology’s market penetration and customer base whilst strengthening KBC’s market leader position in the optimisation of production and energy balances in the oil and gas industry worldwide”.

“Gas compressors are the heart of an oil and gas production facility and must be redesigned to match the changing operating conditions as reservoirs are depleted. Compressor optimisation is a cost effective and proven method to increase production from mature assets and to extend their productive life,” commented Dr Akhtar.

Andy Howell, Executive Vice President of Software at KBC, commented: “Until now process simulators have generally not incorporated advanced compressor design and have not included the integration of compressor sets with gas turbine drives. Following the recent launch of Petro-SIM Production, including single and twin shaft gas turbines, we are pleased to announce the addition of MSE’s advanced compressor design to offer the industry a complete package for increasing the value of rotating machinery. KBC is pleased that MSE, a recognised compression design and optimisation company, has chosen to collaborate with KBC to add significant value to the industry.”
