“Partners in Safety” was the theme of an April 2 safety campaign organized for all contract owners serving Saudi Aramco’s Southern Area organizations.

The campaign was held at an al-Hasa area hotel and attended by more than 370 contractor delegates — including owners, CEOs, vice presidents, managers, engineers and safety officers — and most of Saudi Aramco’s Southern Area managers, division heads and safety officers.

Bader F. Al-Qadran, general manager of Southern Area Producing and chairman of the Area Safety Committee, welcomed participants and highlighted that contractors and Saudi Aramco complement each other by comprising a team that achieves operational excellence in all areas, especially in the field of safety.

The meeting’s main objectives were to align contractors and Saudi Aramco in tending to daily operations and to ensure that common safety strategies and methods are shared among all contractors.

Among the various safety topics presented and discussed were the basics of safety requirements, safety provisions in contracts, contractor camps, traffic and vehicle safety, safe practices for using heavy equipment in close proximity to live overhead power lines, and other topics.

An open discussion with contract owners and representatives followed the presentations, during which Al-Qadran put a strong emphasis on contractors and Saudi Aramco working as a team.
