Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced it was awarded a framework contract from Gassnova SF for its "CO2 Capture Mongstad (CCM) Project" at the Mongstad Refinery site in Norway .

Officials did not disclose the contract value, however, they noted that the framework contract, for which Jacobs is the sole provider of engineering and technical assistance services, is being executed from its office in Leiden, The Netherlands .

Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is providing engineering and technical assistance services to support the installation of a large-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) capture plant for a combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the refinery. The CHP plant is integrated with the refinery and includes fuel gas/electricity exchange with the Troll gas field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The work involves individual call-off contracts which could include feasibility and concept studies, 3D modeling, interface coordination, detailed engineering and construction plans, health, safety and environmental (HSE) management and HSE engineering activities, including a site-wide noise control strategy, and cost estimates.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Robert Matha stated, "Jacobs is proud to support this important project and help Gassnova to achieve its project carbon capture goals."

The CCM Project, which is in an early development stage, is funded by the Norwegian State and being undertaken by a joint venture between Gassnova SF and Statoil ASA. The project is planned to meet Norway’s rigorous standards for health, safety and environmental management.
