Eni to explore further in deepwater offshore Angola

MILAN, Italy – Eni and Sonangol E.P. have signed a production sharing contract to explore block 35 in deepwater offshore Angola. The Kwanza basin area covers about 4,900 sq km (1,892 sq mi) about 150 km (93 mi) off the coast from Luanda.

The contract calls for two wells within five years to target the presalt play after 2,500 sq km (965 sq mi) of 3D seismic is acquired.

Eni is operator with 30% interest. Sonangol P.P. holds 45% and Repsol Exploracion SA has 25%.
