Sasol investigates fire at Secunda synfuels plant in South Africa

On August 24, 2011, at approximately 10:00 local time, an incident occurred at Sasol’s Synfuels Plant at Secunda. This resulted in a fire on the west side of the gasification plant.

Sasol Emergency Services were immediately dispatched, and the situation is under control. 

One injury has been confirmed, and five employees are being medically assessed. There is no impact on the local community. 

The cause of the incident is still being investigated. Sasol views incidents of this nature in a serious light. The safety of our employees, service providers and community remains our top priority.
